Before The Fallout is a melodic, progressive deathcore gem that redefines creativity in an ever-changing genre. It proves that deathcore has not run out of ideas, and that there will continue to be interesting releases for years to come.
1000 Plane Raid combines the current trends in deathcore with progressive metal and tech death in a way that is both rare and beautiful. From the opening riffs of “The King And His Wall” to the closing melodies of “Before The Fallout”, this release has it all. 1000 Plane Raid brings the listener on a journey of epic proportions, crossing genres and stereotypes to deliver an EP that is very unique.
The guitar and bass work by Justin, Brandon, Steve-o and Ragan ranges from rhythmic chugging to melodic solos as well as nearly everything in between. The drumming is never overbearing, and serves as a backbone to the music instead of a constant wave of treble. Kaleb’s vocals are not incredibly unique, but his mid and lower-range vocals complement the music very well.
It is readily apparent that 1000 Plane Raid but a lot of work into this EP, and as a result it is very fluid and polished. My only complaint is that there could have been a bit more melody (although there was quite a bit), because I found the guitar writing for those parts to be much more interesting than the slightly heavier parts. Regardless, this is a great release, and I look forward to what 1000 Plane Raid will do in the future.
