We managed to catch Clay Lemanske, the man behind possibly the biggest pornogrind band out there, where we were able to talk crap about the brand new album ‘Plundering Into Vaginal Demotion’, aswell as talk about fans, influences, artwork and more!
Total Deathcore: Hey Clay, how is it going?
Clay: Fucking busy as shit, but I’m smokin this cherry pie so its legit.
Total Deathcore: Your new album ‘Plundering Into Vaginal Demolition’ is almost out! What differences are on this album than your previous albums, are you still a one man band?
Clay: Always will be a one man band. I try to progress with every album. All my software got upgraded, new guitar, new drum software, new microphones…plus this CD happened pretty organically…usually how I like it. It’s nasty, I promise ya.
Total Deathcore: The album artwork is in my opinion your best and most savage yet, who designed it, and what was your going through your head when you explained it to the designer?
Clay: Karl Dahmer from Dahmer art hooked me up. He’s been a friend of mine for a long time. I can’t divulge details of what exactly I tell artists but….my need for violence is strong, and it comes out in the explinations of what I’m looking for….in this case Karl got pretty pumped. Haha.
Total Deathcore: You’ve been tearing up the porno-grind scene for a long time now, but what made you do it? Who’s your biggest influences?
Clay: Fucking cunts….I hate everyone with an extreme and violent passion. When I first heard death metal I knew it was for me…but you can buy that gore shit on the shelfs of Best Buy; that aint my style…I want people to truly understand whats going on in my head.
Total Deathcore: Have you received any hate mail for being offensive with your album and song titles, any crazy stories to tell?
Clay: I get hate mail on the internet alllllll the time. The things kids (fuck age, they’re all kids) will do when they’re behind a computer screen. I’ve never not once had anyone say anything to my personally so, I dont have many crazy stories…there’s one about a Subway and a grandma/daughter combo but….that was just me being an ass. hahaha.
Total Deathcore: Do you ever show your parents/family your music, if so what do they say about it?
Clay: Yeah man, my parents know what I do. They’ve each been to a show too. Haha. They dont mind man, they know I’m OK at heart….plus I grew up PAINFULLY shy and socially awkward so, they like to see me travel and shit.
Total Deathcore: ’Her Pussy Bleeding Semen’ was the first track I ever heard from you a few years back, since the album ‘The Smut Circus’ what’s changed with Cemetery Rapist? Have you noticed a major increase in followers, or even haters?
Clay: Yo CxRx fans are the SHIT! The fans have gotten intense….these dudes know details about me personally and whatnot. I got my ol lady all mad cause bitches are hittin up my facebook tryin to get at my dick! hahaha, that shit is all whatever bullshit though. I LOVE my fans and friends man. I try to spend a second with every single face at my shows (that wants to) as I truly appreciate and understand what it’s like to spend a hard earned dollar on a band. I was, and am, a fan LONG before I was the Rapist…so much love for the love!! The haters can suck my dick.
Total Deathcore: Somebody once told me the genre of your music is ‘Cricketcore’. How do you feel about that label, or any underground metal label/genre in general?
Clay: That’s a truly stupid one, I must admit. Whoever came up with that should be shot. I play pornogrind. Thats all I do.
Total Deathcore: Do you watch films constantly and when something random or funny comes up go, “Yeah I’m going to add that line as a sample on one of my next songs”?
Clay: No.
Total Deathcore: What can we expect from the Cemetery Rapist in the future?
Clay: I’ll try and let my music do the talking there, but I’ll never let my progression end!
