The four piece Chesapeake, VA brutal chokeslam death outfit Cerebus unleashes a category 4 hurricane of guttural brilliance with their debut album, “Hallelujah.”
I was told prior to hearing it that this was a diverse and heavy album, and I was not disappointed. Each of the Hallelujah’s 15 tracks comes complete with its own aggressive personality, coupled with a beefy set of toilet bowl vocals, raunchy riffs, and gooch-quivering breakdowns. No two tracks sounded alike.
Cerebus pays tribute to influences like Meshuggah, The Faceless and Cannibal Corpse throughout the album. Some of the albums highlights include the tracks, “BDSM,” “Distribution,” “Approach,” and my personal favorite, “Pasta Straw.”
Filled with immense vocal range, slamcore breakdowns, death metal riffs, and blast beats galore, Cerebus have put out a fantastic debut album, one which readers of Total Deathcore should be giddy about.
