“Time to erase and feed!”
I breezed on over to Conducting From The Grave’s Kickstarter page and pulled this paragraph:
“One of the most frustrating things in the music business is not being able to be heard due to the power that record labels have and the advantages and disadvantages that come with being on a record label. For instance, not being supported or believed in enough to produce the record that we as a band want to make, or having a release continually delayed because, for a label, there are too many business decisions and risks involved with putting an album out. Due to these frustrations we have decided to stay away from record labels for the time being and want to focus on our relationship with our fan base. We want to get this new album to our fans the most direct way possible.”
Bulls-eye, motherfuckers! Conducting From The Grave’s self titled, fan-funded effort is one of the best albums I’ve heard all year. As it stands right now, it has become an immediate contender for my favorite album this year, with the likes of Everblack, and One of us is the Killer. This album is a shining example of this band’s progression over it’s decade long career. Featuring a delicious blend of metalcore, death metal and breakdowns heavy enough to give God an erection problem. The best thing about this album is that it sounds like the album that they wanted to make all along, and for whatever reason, a label decided not to trust them to make it. Well I have to say, that’s their loss, because this album is brilliant. Cheers to the fans who donated, to their effort.
The tracks Lycan and The Rise are meant to be played live, in front of a crowd of mad cow-like humans hopped up on a blend of ketamine and horse steroids. They’re that brutal, and they both inspire that level of violence. Don’t question it, just accept it; Conducting From The Grave has made their presence known to the heavy metal world in a big way.
So you’ll be buying the album comes out on October 1st. I think it’s safe to say after a release like this one that we DEMAND to see Conducting From The Grave on a big national tour within the next year. Hopefully Mayhem or Summer Slaughter. Just be sure to play a show in Providence!
