I wasn’t quite sure what to expect before I hit play for the first time. I didn’t know if I should expect heaviness on the scale of an African elephant or more melody than Johann Sebastian Bach. When the last song finished, it really wasn’t just simply one or the other. It really was a bit of both. The heavy moments of this release are very heavy and the melodic moments are, wait for it, very melodic.
The way the album’s sound progresses has a different feel if you listen top down or bottom up. Though the guitar work isn’t necessarily the most original in writing, it’s still very well executed and very diverse. The high range vocals are personally my favorite part and the guttural range that he delves into at a couple of points are impeccable. This band could easily please a couple of different types of fans.
The first part of the album can easily please anybody who is a fan of anything heavy, and the second part can easily please anybody who is a fan of melody with a dash of heavy. If this band was a cake, it would be a marble cake. It doesn’t just have one thing or the other like a layer cake band would, it’s made with a basis of heavy, a nice even spread of melody, a coating of brutal vocals and a sprinkle of cleans.
Definitely worth a listen. – 3.5/5.”
