Swallow Your Pride’s interesting take on metalcore is very impressive. Although there are no clean vocals, the band uses prototypical metalcore riffs over driving rhythm guitar that really makes the single an extremely powerful and intricate song. The vocals are reminiscent of Roughton Reynolds (Enter Shikari) during the vocalist’s use of mid-range screams, but dive down into some hard-hitting lows at any moment. The gang vocals in the track also add as a nice break from the constant scream vocals. Instrumentally, the texture is very diverse. The band adds a progressive edge by constantly changing up the tempo and organization of their choruses and verses.
Every riff is as infectious as the last in this track. Add divergent breakdowns, well executed drum fills and a vocal texture that hits you in the face with passion and you’ve got a really well done single. I’m excited to hear more from these guys, this track did not disappoint at all. I’m still whistling the guitar solo and ending riff after listening to it for the past half an hour; the breakdowns are equally as catchy. They aren’t super technical, but they fit perfectly within the musical arrangement of the track. Metal fans, definitely check these guys out, they will not disappoint you.
